Sri Lanka Animal Protection Association

The Sri Lanka Animal Protection Association (or SLAPA) as we are yet to be registered, not for profit organisation dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of all animals in Sri Lanka. The charity consists of a group of concerned individuals brought together by a common concern for the wellbeing of our four footed friends. SLAPA was inaugurated on 19 September 2009 and is based on the older, now defunct Ceylon Animal Protection Society.

From rescuing abandoned dogs and cats, stopping the illegal movement of elephants and cattle to lobbying for animal welfare legislation, SLAPA is active in animal protection.
